Former home organ of the late Zeev Steinberg

Organ n. 36

The organ belonged to the late Zeev Steinberg, composer and a well-known violist. Member of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra for almost 40 years, he also composed numerous chamber music works and an oratorio.
Following Mr. Steinberg’s instructions to build a quasi 16th century positive-like instrument, Gideon Shamir built in 1986 a 6-stop 2-manual organ, housed in a small chest open from the top, and a separated wooden box housing the blower and bellows. In 2011 Mr. Steinberg passed away and the organ was sold to Gidi Meir.
