Tenth Anniversary of the Israel International Organ Festival

Next season will be the tenth anniversary of the Israel International Organ Festival and we may indulge in some satisfaction when we think of a hundred and fifty organ concerts, played by 53 different organists from 15 different countries on 10 different organs !

The members of our Association and the public at large became acquainted to a very large repertoire written over hundreds of years in numerous countries (mostly in Europe though) for the organ, better-known as the "king of all instruments", mostly because of its huge size and the great diversity of its sounds. The public also learned to recognize the specific sound of each of its "stops" or "registers", the different styles used at different times in different countries and by a great many composers.

We have decided, beginning with the 10th anniversary of our Festival, to enlarge its musical  spectrum: we shall not restrict ourselves to organ recitals, but we shall include more and more works originally written for organ and other participants: soloist singers, soloist instrumentists, choirs and/or orchestras. Our main interest remains focused on the organ of course, and that is why we shall select mostly pieces where an equal role or even the main role is given to the organ.

Starting with next season, we shall have every year 9 concerts, both in Haifa and in Jerusalem, 6 or 7 of them will still be organ solo recitals, but 2 or 3 will include other solists, choirs and/or orchestras.

For example, our 10th 2018-2019 Festival will have 6 organ recitals but also:

- In December 2018 a duo of two outstanding French artists, Francois Espinasse, organ, and Marc  Geujon, trumpet

- in February 2019 the Antonin Dvorak's Mass with the New Israeli Vocal Ensemble and Yuval Rabin, organ

- in April 2019 three organ concertos (Haendel, Vivaldi and K.P.E. Bach) with soloists from the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra and Yuval Rabin, organ.

These changes will increase the cost of our concerts and we shall have to raise the price both of our membership fees and of the tickets. We decided however to stick to the very lowest possible prices, in order to encourage a still larger public to join our Association.

This will be our price-list for the years to come:

  •  Annual membership (free entrance to all events)  250 NIS
  •  Single ticket for organ solo recitals (remains as it was)  60 NIS
  •  Single ticket for duo concerts  80 NIS
  •  Single ticket for concerts including more participants  90 NIS

We wish to thank warmly all friends and members of the Israel Organ Association for their fidelity and relentless help. We hope you will continue to do so and share our programs, flyers and personal comments with friends and colleagues through social websites. Increase in membership will allow us to bring each year better and better artists. This, by itself, will raise the notoriety of the Festival and motivate the best organ-players in the world to come to Israel and take part in our concerts.
